POIRE "BARTLETT" PEAR / Pyrus Tree
PYRUSBART24Regular price $149.95
This is the classic pear sold canned as cocktails, stewed halved in syrup, or pureed in baby food. It’s the Bartlett’s heavily aromatic, sweet vanilla flavor that we think of as classic “pear” taste. They’re also the signature pear used in making Poire Williams, a colorless brandy sold with a whole, unsliced pear inside the bottle. PEAR TIPS: Pick it before its maturity, because this way it will keep until January in the refrigerator or in a cold room. Just take out a few fruits at a time and leave them to ripen on the counter for a tender, juicy flesh. The rendering of the tree may vary depending on the time of year.
Self-pollinating. Very good taste. Ready to eat around September 10 in Montréal Area.
This potted fruit tree is typically grown in a designated area of the yard because of its mature size and spread. It should only be grown in full sunlight. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It prefer sandy potted mix soil type + coarse barks and pH (neutral to acidic). It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. It will benefit from being disposed in a relatively sheltered location from prevailing winds. Prune during dormancy (late March, early April). All dead or damaged branches must be eliminated to prevent diseases. Fertilize one time in early May (1/2) and second time in early June (2/2). For POTTED FRUIT TREES, a regular supply of water is required, mainly in drought periods.
